In which Jen Hofmann (http://www.InspiredHomeOffice.com) and Lisa wear ridiculous amounts of rain gear in order to drink from geysers of soda in the name of stepping away from intense furrowed-brow-self-employment-working. What will YOUR Adventure in Free Time be?
Jen Hofmann: OMG!! That was so fun!!
Mission: drink out of the exploding soda bottle!
Tools: raincoat, bottle of pop/soda (depending on where you’re from), roll of Mentos candy
Report: I bought two bottles of pop, just in case something went awry. And it did. I put one Mentos candy into the first bottle and it was kind of a dud. So, I got brave and put FIVE candies into the second bottle and, I confess, I ran away. Ahem. To take the picture, of course. But WOW!! Look at that thing go!! By the time I’d taken the photo, the fountain stopped so I didn’t get to drink from it. Watch the video to see Lisa & Kerri pick up where I left off and actually DRINK from the geyser…
Leave us comments & get a prize: Answer the question “What are your favorite pop & Mentos flavors” (plus any other comments you want to make) and Jen will send a roll of Mentos to a randomly selected commenter ;0)
This time we’re smashing geodes in the name of business freedom. Cuz we get locked up at our computers, but we’re so much more than that. This is a way to get your ya-ya’s out…
RECIPE: One unopened geode (get at toy store or rock shop) OR anything else you want to smash (cuz geodes aren’t the easiest things to find – how about almonds or anything satisfyingly smashable and expendable around the house). One hammer. One old bag or sock. Takes about 5 minutes to do, then 5 minutes of clean-up. Post comments about our video and/or do the adventure and let us know how it went. If you want to send us photos, send them to lisa at innerbusinessdiva.com
MANTRA: The doorway to having more free time starts with a couple quirky 10-minute adventures like this. Keep hanging with us, you’ll see!
OK, I know this reveals that I am a Mad Libs and childish humor junkie (yes I still love potty jokes), but I really think this is awesome! You can go to this site and make all sorts of signs that say whatever you want them to. I just made a naughty one for my hubby and a funny one for my friend.
For this adventure…make one that targets a friend and is somewhat believable. Send it to them and let us know their reaction. It took me literally 4 minutes.
Woo hoo! Lisa here. Our first adventure Free Time Buddy is Jenn Givler of J. Givler Fitness. We had fun with phone numbers…
RECIPE: Piece of paper, pen, your phone number. See what words you can make out of the letters associated with the numbers in your phone number. Take 5-10 minutes. Post about it in our comments section!
MANTRA: Free time is contagious. No amount of scheduling will help until you “catch the bug”. Use our free time adventures to activate this healthy “ailment” ;0)
1) LISA’S RESULTS: My fave results using my business phone number are…
DOFUGA GDAI – Something to say to yourself when you’re working and have started taking yourself too seriously. Pretend you’re Australian when saying the second word.
FOE THC HEAL – A subliminal message in my phone number that suggests marijuana is the key to bringing enemies together?
DOE TIC HEAL - Awww, that’s just nice isn’t it?
2) JENN’S RESULTS: Her fave result was, and I have to say, I’m jealous because this makes her phone number the friendliest phone number ever…
HUG OPT OK YO!
Take five minutes to do the adventure, post about it here, and then check out this link: Jenn will be posting on her blog about what it was like to do a free time adventure. Being the deep and wise woman that she is, she has a really powerful take on it: Jenn Givler’s Fitness Blog at http://www.JGivlerFitness.com/blog
Our latest free time adventure! The “Great Gum Escapade!!!” Enjoy. And participate along with us by reading the “Join our newest adventure” post below. It shows you how to flex your free time muscle by taking 15 minutes a day for two days in a row. How do-able is that? Then let us know how it goes…
Okay, we both traveled a bunch in the month of November, so we got a little behind on the gum adventure (see Great Gum Escapade post below). But we did it yesterday! We tried about 15 different kinds of gum. It was a blast :0) We’ll post the video some time this week. While we’re getting the video ready, here’s this week’s Adventures in Free Time Challenge for you:
Day One 20-minute free time escapade: As a break in your business day, take a quick jaunt to the gum aisle in your local grocery store and buy the new sexy gum flavors that intrigue you.
Day Two 15-minute free time escapade: Chew the different flavors and see what you like and what you don’t like.
Hop on our RSS feed so we can let you know when our Great Gum Escapade video has been posted and then make a comment of your own to let us know how it went with your Gum Escapade. Remember – you’re flexing your free time muscle here which is ultimately good for your business (see our philosopy at right). So get out there and chew – we can’t wait to hear from you!
And in the meantime, if you want to see one of our other videos, check out the Homemade Geyser video below. Tee hee…
After last week’s Homemade Geyser (see video below), we’ve got a new adventure on the horizon: The Great Gum Escapade. Something has happened in the last decade with gum. I wasn’t really paying attention because I’ve never been much of a gum chewer, but somewhere along the way gum flavors got really sexy. Growing up in the 70’s, there were your basic flavors- mint, grape, orange and some kind of berry. But the checkout lane now has all of these groove-a-licious flavors and shapes and packaging. Names like “maui melon mint” and “berry pear-licious” and “Lush” and “Elixir” (what does it mean? I have to know!) So for our next mid-business-day adventure, we’re going to try all the new gums and see what we think. Stay tuned…
This is our first post ever! And our first official adventure in free time. It seems that all of the things we have on our list right now have to do with blowing something up. We’ll have to work on that ;0) But for now it sure feels good. Check out our two-minute video:
So of course it wasn’t so much about the explosion as it was about the fun had along the way. (Although we really would have liked if it had exploded). I guess that’s fodder for one of our next adventures. And since this blog is all about doing fun things to take a break from work, here’s the oh-so-serious analysis:
Time away from work: Two hours (whopee!) Time it would take you: Half hour since you wouldn’t be videotaping (unless you wanted to) Relaxation factor: 10 out of 10 Do try this at home: Baking soda, vinegar, a bottle and a little bit of dishwashing liquid for bubbles.
And if you can come up with some recipe that actually explodes rather than oozes, we’ll color a picture from my favorite coloring book and send it to you.
Little mischievous deeds that take 5 to 15 minutes, have nothing to do with productivity and everything to do with waking your inner free time rebel. Hang with us, do one of these a couple of weeks in a row and watch the magic ensue.
We are former workaholic entrepreneurs who couldn't find free time if our lives depended on it. Jaws were clenched. Adrenal glands taxed. Panties were all in a bunch. Health went down the drain. Relationships with loved ones suffered.
Then we conspired to change our lives- or should we say to actually have lives. We started with little tiny free time adventures like the ones you see on our blog. Once you do one, you develop a hunger for more, and "magically" you're finding free time opportunities in your schedule that you would never have found before.
But let's not stand around talking about it... let's get to it! Come play with us on the blog or join in on one of the following... Lisa & Kerri
